MRS. GLEN (Bernice L. L. Engelhardt) MEYER 1901-1982

Funeral services for Bernice L. Meyer, were held Thusday, Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Bernice Louise Lovina Meyer, daughter of George and Emmay (Meyer) Engelhardt, was born Dec. 6, 1901 in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa, near St. Olaf. She passed away Nov. 2, 1982 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.

She was baptized May 4, 1902 at Farmersburg, Iowa and confirmed April 16, 1916 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana.

She graduated from the Luana Consolidated School and attended State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught in the rural schools of Clayton County and in the Marquette Public School.

On Oct. 16, 1928 she married Glen H. Meyer at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana. They had a son, Ronald.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Maury and Irving, and two sisters, Mildred, (Mrs. Lance) Candee and Florence (Mrs. Walter Garms).

Surviving are a son, Ronald and daughter-in-law, Susan, two grandsons, Charlie and George, both at home, two granddaughters, Carol of Salzburg, Austria and Catherine of Ames, Iowa, and a brother, the Rev. Gerald Engelhardt of Humboldt, Iowa.

She was a member of the Prosperous Ridge Study Club and the LCW of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1928.
