MRS. HARVEY (Marie Hermina Meyer) DAHMS
Funeral services for Mrs. Harvey Dahms, 55, were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 from the Schultz Funeral Home to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Monona at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. R. C. Schlueter officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield cemetery at Castalia.
Mrs. Dahms died at her home Saturday morning, October 24, 1959 at 7:00 a.m. following an attack of Asthma. She was also afflicted with deafness.
As Marie Hermina, she was born the daughter of Helmuth Meyer and Marie (nee Meier) at Castalia, November 11, 1903
She was baptized by the Rev. E. Bockelman at Postville, May 15, 1904, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran church in Castalia by Rev. W. A. Harms, April 16, 1916.
She was graduated from Castalia high school in the spring of 1920. She was stricken with scarlet fever in February, 1921, which resulted in the loss of hearing and complications of Asthma.
She was married to Harvey Dahms at Castalia, August 26, 1934. The couple went to live on a farm near Castalia, residing there until 1937 when they moved to the Charles Hamann farm north of Luana. They lived there for two years, moving to the Fred Lembke farm north of Monona where they lived for eight years. They moved in 1947 to the Robert Waskow farm on the edge of Monona, which they purchased, living there since.
She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monona.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Zonna) Carter of Monona and Mrs. Melvin (Amy) Engelhardt of Mabel, Minnesota; one son, Lynwood at home; four sisters, Mrs. Ed (Viola) Wirsching of Hayward, California, Mrs. John (Amy) Kluss of Castalia, Mrs. Joe (Lucy) Kluss of Marquette, Mrs. William (Golda) Drallmeier of Battle Creek, Michigan; two brothers, Carlaus Meyer of Castalia and Helmuth Meyer of Postville and five grandchildren.
