WORTHY MOTHER CALLED BY DEATH FRIDAY
Mrs. Carl Dietrich, 79 Years old, dies at home in this city.

Mrs. Carl Dietrich, one of Guttenberg's highly esteemed long-time residents and worthy mothers, passed away at her home in this city on last Friday morning at the age of 79 years and 10 months, after a short illness. She had been suffering with attacks of asthma for a long time, previous to her death.

Deceased was born in Germany on May 9, 1848, where she grew to womanhood. On March 2, 1878, she was united in marriage with Mr. Carl Dietrich in Germany.

In the year 1893 Mrs. Dietrich came to America with her family, settling at Guttenberg, Iowa, where she spent the remainder of her life. On March 2, 1928, Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Dietrich's maiden name was Miss Pauline Zarbrock.

She was a true christian woman in every respect. Her sympathies were genuine, her friendships loyal and sincere. A loving and devoted wife and mother, she gave to her home that zealous care which made it a haven of rest and security for those she loved. She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Guttenberg and when death claimed her she was well prepared to meet her Maker and receive the reward she so richly deserved.

Her death is deeply mourned by her aged husband, three sons, Fred Zarbrock and Carl Dietrich, Jr., of Manly, Iowa, and Otto Dietrich, of McGregor, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Augusta Klemp and Mrs. Clara Noble of Guttenberg; seventeen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in this city on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Emil Lehne officiating. The body was laid to rest in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.

The passing of this worthy wife and mother is deeply regretted in this community, which knew her so long and her loved ones have the sincere sympathy of all.

Obituary was found amongst my Grandmother's papers (Mrs. Vivian Dietrich)
