Lelia E. Knight, 98, of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 7, 1999 at Oneota Riverview Care Facility, Decorah, following a long illness. Funeral service was on Friday, December 10, 1999 at First United Methodist Church, Decorah, with burial in Council Hill Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. Friends called on Thursday, December 9, at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Zelda (Denning) Cahoon; her husband, 4 children, Shirley Beisker and 3 infants, Ina Rae, Eva June and Louis Alpha, Jr.; 3 sons-in-law; 2 sisters, Nina Wilkins and Geneva Schlitter, and 1 brother, Kenneth Cahoon.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Ruth McClintock, Decorah; Hazel Hill, Waukon, Iowa; Betty (Howard) Hill, Waukon; 16 grand-children, 31 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Lelia was born October 9, 1901, in rural Allamakee County, then attended school in rural Allamakee County. She married Louis Alpha (Alf) Knight Nov. 30, 1922 at her parent's home in McGregor, IA. Louis died May 21, 1965.

Lelia grew up in Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church and was very active there. She played the organ, and her dad, Alf (sic), later bought the church and made it into the family home.

Lelia had been a resident of the Oneota Riverview Care Facility since June 1965.
