ARNO J. ENGELHARDT
Last rites were held Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1972, for Arno J. Engelhardt, at St. Paul Lutheran church, 10 a.m., with the Rev. Norman Ullestad officiating. Mr. Engelhardt died February 6 at Northgate Manor, Waukon. Burial was in the Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery, Farmersburg.
Arno Engelhardt, son of Henry Engelhardt and Reka Schmidt Engelhardt, was born Sept. 6, 1895, at St. Olaf, Wagner township.
He was baptized Sept. 25, 1895 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, and confirmed April 4, 1909, at St. John's Lutheran church, Farmersburg. He was received into membership in St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, December 28, 1852.
He was married to Hattie Best of Elkader, February 20, 1917. Three children were born to them. He farmed all of his life in Clayton and Allamakee counties, moving to Postville in 1965. He served on the council of St. Paul Lutheran church in Monona and was active in the Brotherhood. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; infant son; four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, Vernis and Oran, Postville and two grandchildren.
