MRS. CHARLES (Bertha Aulerich) ENGELHARDT
Mrs. Bertha Engelhardt, 95, passed away at the Lake Norden, South Dakota Rest Home where she had been a patient for four years on Friday, June 8, 1973.
She was born the daughter of George Aulerich Sr. and Wilhelmina nee Klinge Aulerich on January 12, 1878, in Clayton County.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was married to Charles Engelhardt of St. Olaf, Iowa, in Aberdeen, S. D., on February 15, 1915.
She was a seamstress all her life and assisted her husband in farming near Lily and Webster, S. D. Later they operated a poultry and milk station in Lake Norden, S. D.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers, George and Henry Aulerich, 6 sisters, Mrs. Mathilda Stevenson, Miss Amelia and Miss Ruth Aulerich and Mrs. Emma Brownson and two sisters who died in infancy.
She is survived by her son, Hugo, and daughter-in-law of Huron, S. D., 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and one brother, Emil Aulerich, of Monona.
Services were held in the Schultz Funeral Home in Monona on Monday, June 11, at 1:30 with Intern Robert Slade officiating. Pallbearers were Palmer Brownson, Harold Aulerich, Lawrence Cayler, Kenneth Suddendorf, Otmar Bruns and Brent Bruns.
Interment was in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Monona.
