A Good Woman Called By Death.

On June 12 at her farm home near Osterdock occurred the death of Mrs. Mary Rosalia Moser Schrank after a short illness at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 9 days. Deceased was born May 4, 1839 in Basel, Switzerland, Europe and on October 28, 1846, she came to the United States with her parents, settling at first at Highland, Illinois, and later came to Clayton County, Iowa, where she lived until her death.

On February 17, 1857, she was united in marriage to Charles Schrank, who preceded her in death about six years ago. To this happy union twelve children were born, of which nine are living, namely, Gustav, at home, Fred, of Akron, Colorado, William, of Gettysburg, South Dakota, Mrs. Wm. Marold, of Dyersville, Iowa, Mrs. D. D. McGrath, of Dubuque, Joseph, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, John, of Elkport, Mrs. William Cairl, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. John Strader, of Colesburg, Iowa; Mary, Frank and Frances are dead. Besides her children, she leaves to deeply mourn her death two brothers, A.D. Moser, of North Buena Vista, and Lucas Moser, of Springdale, Washington and a large (circle?) of relatives and friends, by whom she will be sadly missed, as she was a kind and true wife, mother, sister and friend always ready with heart and hand to help those in need, and therefore was loved by all who knew her. She was a faithful member of the Catholic Church.

The remains were brought to Guttenberg Monday morning and funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. Father J. H. Brinkmann officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. May she rest in peace.
