Former Guttenberg Man Dies At Springdale Wash
Mrs. Henry Schnieder of Guttenberg, received a message from Springdale, Wash., Thursday evening bringing her the sad word of the death of her father, Lucas Moser, who passed away there on that date (Jan. 25, 1923) at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 7 days, the cause of his death being old age.
Deceased was born in Switzerland on October 18, 1835, later immigrating to the United States, settling in Clayton County, Iowa, being successfully engaged in farming for a time. For many years he was a resident of Guttenberg leaving this part of the country 23 years ago and going to the state of Washington with his family where he spent the remainder of his life.
His wife preceded him in death on September 10, 1913, aged 66 years, 5 months and 26 days.
Of late years Mr. Moser had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Gerhard Leliefeld at Springdale, Wash. and was an ambitious man during his entire life.
He was a G.A.R. Veteran and a kind and loving father and friend, and will be remembered by many of the older residents of Guttenberg.
His death is deeply mourned by one son, John Moser of Springdale, Wash.; seven daughters, Mrs. Gerhard Leliefeld, Mrs. Nick Franks, Mrs. Henry Leliefeld of Springdale, Wash. Mrs. Henry Schnieder of Guttenberg, Iowa; Mrs. Philip Snyder, Mrs. Lizzie Staack and Mrs. Vaughn Follett, of Spokane, Wash., a large number of grand and great grand children, besides many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at Springdale.
