Funeral Held for Mrs. Joe Hamlett

Anna Elizabeth Freyermuth, the daughter of Louis and Amelia Freyermuth, was born at Lone Tree, Iowa on May 28, 1876, and passed away October 28, 1944. At the age of nine her parents migrated to western Nebraska, where they made their home on a homestead.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Caleb Hamlett on December 25, 1897 at Hay Springs, Nebraska. The following spring they went by covered wagon to Unionville, Missouri. Later returning to eastern Nebraska, where they made their home for 14 years. they finally came to Clayton County, Iowa and of late years moving to Edgewood where they built their home.

To this union were born Mrs. Earl Culbertson of Edgewood, Jessie Hamlett of Edgewood, Everett Hamlett of Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Ralph Pilgrim of Edgewood, all who survive her passing away. She also leaves to mourn her death, her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Mester, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Phillip Goering, Edgewood; and one brother, Charles Freyermuth of Beamer, Nebraska. also eight grandchildren and one great grandson. One grandson is in the armed services.

She was a Lutheran, but attended the Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Pythian Sisters, they having a part in the memorial services.

Mrs. Hamlett had been ill for the past three years and bedfast since the sixth of May. Her passing leaves a loss of many friends in this community.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist church in Edgewood. Rev. Dwight C. Bonham officiated. The pallbearers were O. H. Berens, C. J. Rulon, Ray Minkler, Charles Tilp, Harley Kraus and Floyd Knickerbocker. Music was furnished by Fred and Ruby Smith, accompanied by Velma Bonham. The songs were "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Abide with Me". Burial was made in the Edgewood cemetery.
