IRA ROLLIN BEYER
Ira Rollin Beyer was born near Colesburg, Iowa, September 24, 1875. He was the son of Jabez and Maria Beyer. Mr. Beyer spent most of his life on a farm and was actively engaged in the occupation of farming in the vicinity of Edgewood and Littleport until he retired about two years ago and moved to Edgewood.Mr. Beyer was married to Bertha Weyant on May 23rd, 1900 and to this union seven children were born. A son and daughter died in infancy.
After an illness of a little over a week he passed away at his home Monday noon, February 2 at the age of 66 years and four months.
Surviving to mourn his death are his wife and three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Ray Sevey of Manchester, Miss Wilma Beyer of Urban, Ill., Paul Beyer of Buffalo, Wyo., Francis Beyer of Stamford, Texas and Ruth Beyer, residing at home, and three grandchildren. Also three brothers and a sister, charles E. Beyer of Puente, Calif., Dr. Arthur Beyer of Guttenberg, Dr. H. Otley Beyer of Manila, Philippine Islands, and Mrs. Laura True of Cheyenne, Wyo., survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at ten o'clock at the Platt Chapel in charge of the Rev. Thos. H. Smith, pastor of the Methodist Church. The casket bearers were E. J. Putz, Frank Wiley, Charles Jacobs, W. D. Sevey, A. W. Kuhlman and Walter Jewell. Burial was delayed until Thursday afternoon because word was received that Paul Beyer was coming from his Wyoming home.
