Funeral services for John Henry Hansel were held from the home Tuesday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. A.H. Meyer, pastor of the Zion M.E. Church. Mrs. Bernita Wessel and Miss Myrtle Klaus sang the hymns. Burial was made at the Hansel cemetery.
Mr. Hansel passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, at the age of 71 years 10 months and 24 days. He had been critically ill since Dec. 30, when he sustained a paralytic stroke. The son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hansel, he was born Feb. 15, 1866, near Garber. His life was spent in that vicinity, where he engaged in farming.
On Feb. 3, 1889, he was united in marriage with Miss Jennie D. Grace, and they were the parents of nine children. He was preceded in death by his wife March 9, 1925, a son, Quiller, July 30, 1910 and a daughter, Mary, Nov. 29, 1935. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mamie Ridenour and Mrs. Pauline Gull, both of Colesburg, and Mrs. Osie Morley of Garber; four sons, Boyce of Volga, Dale of Garber, Cecil and Ralph at home; sixteen grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters, besides other relatives and friends.
