SMITH, HYDE, BARNHART, WALTERS, GOODRICH

Fayette - Robert S. Smith, 88, died Monday, June 19, at 10:30 p.m. at the home of his son-in-law, Roy Goodrich, in Fayette. Mr. Smith had been ill for a long time and suffered a stroke last week.

He was born on April 22, 1826 [sic - should be 1862], in Delaware county, Iowa. He was the son of George and Mary Hyde Smith. On October 18, 1883, he married Emma J. Barnharp [sic - Barnhart]and they had five children.

Smith was one of 10 children, his only living sister is Mrs. Marvin Walters of Colesburg.

Two of his children are still living, Delbert and Alexis, of Rockford, Ill.

The body will lie in state at the Belles funeral home Friday, at 12:15 and burial will be from the Bethel Church and at Bethel cemetery at 2 p.m. in Osterdock.
