BERNARD "Ben" VOSS

Bernard "Ben" Voss, son of John Bernard and Sophia (Satran) Voss was born March 3, 1908 at Monona, Iowa.

He received his education at St. Patrick's School in Monona.

Bernard married Leona Auer on June 15, 1937 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa.

He was a retired farmer, having been a life long area resident. Bernard died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996 at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 sisters, Rose Lotza Ulish and Clara Sudol, and one grandchild, Jody Ann Voss.

Survivors include his wife Leona; 2 daughters and their husbands: Betty and Lloyd Welsh of Lansing, IA and Carol and Fred Berns of Elkader, IA; 3 sons and their wives: Bernard and Myra Voss of Elkader, IA, Donald and Mary Pat Voss of Monona, IA and Robert and Marcia Voss of Monticello, IA; 32 grandchildren, Debbie, Jamye, Deanne, Andy, Dacia, Danielle, Lance and Destiny Welsh; Diane and Randy Ruth; Denise and Tim Pavlovac; Dawn and Richard Kuster; Danette and Dewey Jones; Dana and Steve Mathis; Rick and Julie Welsh; Beth and Paul Kuehl; Kris Voss; Angela, Annette, Amy, Darin, Alissa, Devin, Alaine, Dustin and Ashley Voss; Wade, Shantel and Justin Berns and Wendy, Jason and Stacey Voss; 8 great grandchildren, Amanda Pavlovec, Syndee, Corre and Haylee Kuster, Ryan and Kiela Ruth, Carmeron Jones and Malerie Mathis; 2 brothers, Joseph Voss, of Postville, IA and Arthur Voss of Monona, Iowa and a host of other relative and friends.

Funeral service were held Saturday, Nov. 2, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. Father John Moran officiated. Pallbearers were Debbie Welsh, Jayme Welsh, Rick Welsh, Beth Kuehl, Angela Voss, Wade Berns, Teresa Voss and Jason Voss. Honorary pallbearers were Grandchildren. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Schultz Funeral Home in charge of services.
