ELMER JOACHIM HEINRICH LENTH

Elmer Joachim Heinrich Lenth was born January 24, 1898, on a farm south of Luana, to parents John and Dorothea Harnack Lenth. He was baptized July 10, 1898 and confirmed March 31, 1912 in the Lutheran faith. He received his education in Evergreen Grove country school.

On September 27, 1918 Elmer was united in marriage to Hilma Radloff in Farmersburg. They had three children. The couple farmed south of Farmersburg for 40 years. Jan. 1, 1959 they moved to Monona. Elmer worked for Carl Schultz in Monona for many years.

Elmer died Sunday, Feb. 11, 1990, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader, Iowa. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death were: 5 brothers, Gustav, John, Wilbert, Ernest and Louis and 3 sisters, Ella Jarms, Hilda Miller and Esther Palas.

Surviving is his wife, Hilma; 2 daughters, Gretchen Fuelling of Monona and Janet Moser of Guttenberg; one son Clifford; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herb Lenth of McGregor and one sister, Nora Haberichter of Monona.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wed. Feb. 14, 1990 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona. Pastor Harold O. Ward officiated. Mrs. Florence Evans was the organist, and Raymond Doerring and LaRae Schutte were the vocalists. Burial was in Farmersburg-Wagner cemetery, Farmersburg, Iowa.

Pallbearers were: Lloyd Lenth, Gerald Palas, Harlin Miller, Wilbert Lenth, Vernis Haberichter, Virgil Kurth, Donald Moon and Harold Koopman.

Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona was in charge of the services.
