ARNO CARL LENTH
Funeral services for Arno Carl Lenth, 78, of Garnavillo were held Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1, at 1:30 o'clock at St. Peter;s Lutheran church in Garnavillo with Rev. V. G. Sorensen officiating.
Burial was in the Garnavillo cemetery.
Mr. Lenth died Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, at 11:30 o'clock at the Guttenberg hospital, where he had been a patient for nine days.
He was born a son of John and Lena, nee Rohde, Lenth, June 11, 1885, in Giard township. He was baptized at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church in Monona, Sept. 6, 1885 and confirmed in the same church on Palm Sunday, March 26, 1899.
He was married to Minnie Voelker, Jan. 25, 1911. Together they lived on farms in Giard township, and in 1933 they moved to Clayton township, where they remained until they retired to Garnavillo in 1957.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Bischoff of Garnavillo, Mrs. Walter (Lucille) Behnken of Postville, and Mrs. Lester (Evelyn) Schulte of Elkader; two sons, Everett and Arnold of Garnavillo; two sister, Hilma Lenth and Olga Klinge of Monona; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He and his wife were privileged to observe their golden wedding anniversary in January, 1961.
He served his congregation as a member of the church council. He held positions in his community and school district. Until recent years, he was active also in the political party of his choice.
