Mrs. Ben Buren, postmaster at Leland since March, 1934, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning. Mrs. Buren was conducting business at the post office when she suffered heart failure. She had been under doctor's care during recent months.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 Saturday from St. James Catholic church in Forest City with Rev. Ivan Boyd officiating.

Mrs. Ben (Elizabeth) Buren was born May 16, 1906 in Postville, the daughter of Charles Sonnkalb and Elizabeth (Leui) Sonnkalb. She attended school in Postville and at Iowa State University.

Prior to her marriage to Ben Buren, October 16, 1928, she had taught school. She became postmaster of the Leland post office in March, 1934.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann of Leland; a sister, Mrs. J. R. Gallagher of Parker, South Dakota; and one brother, Paul Sonnkalb of Postville. She was preceded by a son, who died in infancy.
