MARQUETTE, Iowa - Robert A. "Deputy" Ayers, 22, of Marquette died Saturday morning, July 5, 1986, as the result of injuries received in a motorcycle
accident west of Marquette.Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, both in McGregor, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thornburg Funeral Home, McGregor.
Mr. Ayers was a plumber for Marquette Hardware.
Surviving are his parents LaVern and Lorraine (Brainard) Ayers of Marquette; two brothers, Michael of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Jon of Marquette: three sisters, Diana Ayers of LaCrosse, Wis., Theresa Ayers of Monona, Iowa, and
Barbara Ayers of McGregor; his paternal
grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Rodenberg of
Marquette; and maternal step-grandfather, Tilmer Thompson of West Union, Iowa.We think this was clipped from the Dubuque, Iowa Telegraph Herald newspaper and given to my mother, which she placed in her obituary collection.

Robert A. "Deputy" Ayers, 22, Marquette, died Saturday, July 5, 1986, in a motorcycle accident one mile west of Marquette on County Road B-45.
He was born April 4, 1964, in McGregor. He worked for Marquette Hardware as a plumber. Survivors are: Mr. and Mrs. LaVern (Lorraine Brainard) Ayers of Marquette; two brothers, Michael of Prairie du Chien, and Jon of Marquette; three sisters, Dian of LaCrosse, Theresa of Monona and Barbara of McGregor; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Rodenberg of Marquette; maternal step-grandfather, Tilmer Thompson of West Union.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, McGregor, with Pastor Mark Willig officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor. Visitation was held at Thornburg Funeral Home.
