Funeral Services for Mrs. Chas. Beddow Held Last Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Chas. T. Beddow were held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Rhines Chapel in charge of the Rev. A. H. Meyer. Burial was made in Mount Harmony Cemetery near Elkport.

As Eva Jane Stover, she was born on July 31, 1864 at Coleburg, the daughter of Phillip and Julia Stover. Her early life was spent in Cloesburg where she received her schooling in books. On December 24, 1880 she united in marriage with Charles T. Beddow and their union continued for over 62 years. they became the parents of nine children, all of whom survive except one daughter, Blanche, Mrs. John Hamlett, who passed away a few years ago.

Surviving to mourn her death are the devoted husband and the eight children, Bert Beddow, Dewey Beddow, Mrs. A.D. Stone and Mrs. F. A. Robinson of Edgewood, Roy Beddow of Gladbrook, Clifford Beddow and Mrs. Josie Beatty of Merced, Calif., and Frank Beddow of Seattle, Wash. There are 14 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Laura Ross of Oneida.

During the long illness which preceded her death Mrs. Beddow received the constant devoted care of her children living in Edgewood, repaying in part the loving care she had showered upon them in their childhood and youth.

Mrs. Beddow had known what hard work was. the family had lived much of their life on farms in Iowa and South Dakota and had worked together to earn a livelihood from the soil. Mrs. Beddow's life had been devoted to making her family comfortable and happy. As early as last year Mrs. Beddow's health began to fail and she had been seriously ill for several weeks. Death came on Tuesday afternoon, May 25th, to a long useful and honorable life. She will be mourned by all who knew her.

Attending the funeral services from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Jack Beddow of Ruthven; Mrs. John Beddow and Mrs. J. Jones of Manchester; William Costigan, Mr. and Mrs. George Costigan of Elkport; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Oelke of Elkader; Mrs. Laura Ross, Mrs. Ethel Purvis, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kimber, Mrs. Loren Bushnell, Mrs. John rector, Mrs. John Jones of Oneida; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Beddow of Gladbrook and Miss Eva Robinson of Chicago.

Clifford Beddow of Merced, Calif. had been here for several days prior to Mrs. Beddow's death but had to return home the day before.
