Former Druggist Buried Sunday
Claude Eaton Died At Armstrong, Iowa
Burial services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in the Strawberry Point Cemetery for Claude L. Eaton, native of Strawberry Point and former druggist here. Mr. Eaton died at his home in Armstrong, Iowa last Friday after an illness of four years.Services were in charge of the Mansonic Lodge with Rev. J. E. McLain giving the prayers and Gorda J. Gill reading the Masonic commital rites. Pallbearers were M. F. Harwood, Phil Wood, C. C. Huntley and John W. Jessen.
Mr. Eaton was born August 12, 1869. He married Elizabeth Merkel of Edgewood. To this union were born three children. Mrs. Eaton died and Mr. Eaton later married Miss Callie Cooley of Savanna, Illinois. Surviving are the widow, two daughters Mrs. Roscoe Ayers of Iowa City and Mrs. Barney Lewis of Oakland, Calif., one son, Harold at home; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Winnie Chase, Mrs. Blanche Thode and Miss Trix Eaton, all of St. Paul, Dr. H. M. Eaton and Strawberry Point and Carl Eaton of Adma, Wisconsin.
Mr. Eaton learned the trade of pharmacist and became the proprietor of a drug store at Lamont. Later he moved to Strawberry Point where he, with the late Dr. I.P. Howard, operated the corner drug store. Twenty-three years ago he transferred his activities to Armstrong where he was in business with his son until the time of his death. He would have been 71 years old this August 12th.
