MELVIN M. RICKER NATIVE OF CLAYTON COUNTY DIES AT 72
Melvin M. Ricker was born July 31, 1867 in Clayton County, the son of William Ricker and his wife, Adeline R. Ricker. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Addie Chapman in the Wood Center MEthodist parsonage on August 2 at the age of 73 years and two days. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the United Brethern Church ay Goshen in charge of the Rev. A. H. Meyer of Edgewood. Burial was made in the Goshen cemetery.Mr. Ricker was married to Miss Nellie Lyster at Clarkville, Wis. in 1891, and to this union four children were born, three daughters and one son. At the close of his life which was spent entirley in Clayton County he leaves to mourn his death two daughters, Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Henry Gleason, both living near Edgewood, also four grandchildren and one brother, Malone Ricker at Clayton, Iowa, three nephews and two nieces.
About six years ago Mr. Ricker suffered a stroke of paralysis and has been ailing much of the time since. He was a member of the Dunkard faith in which he was baptized.
