Mrs. Kuhlman Granted Release

Release from many months of intense suffering came with death of Mrs. Arthur W. Kuhlman early Saturday morning, May 3. The family and friends had known for many weeks that there was no hop of recovery but the satisfaction of knowing that they had given her the most loving care that was humanly possible does not lessen the grief at her loss.

As Marie M. Hamlett she was born on December 4, 1900 at Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mamie Hamlett. Her span of life was 40 years, four months and 29 days. When she was a six weeks' old baby her mother passed away. Her childhood was spent with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Burgin, now living in Dundee, who mourn her death as they would that of a daughter.

She attedned the Edgewood school from which she was graduated in 1917. For several years she was a most accommodating operator in the local telephone office.

On April 6, 1921, she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Kulhman. To their union were born six children, two of whom preceded her in death.

Surviving to mourn her passing are the loving husband two daughters, Yvonne and Billie Lou, two sons, Jack and Jimmie, her father, John Hamlett, two brothers, Robert of Los Angeles, Calif, and Lee of Edgewood, one sister, Miss Nona Hamlett, also of Edgewood.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Methodist Church in charge of Mr. Oliver Smith of Waterloo and Mr. Louis Brent of Garnavillo, Mrs. Kuhlman's favorite song, "Alone" was sung as a duet by C. J. Rulon and D. E. Rhines, and the quartet composed of Mr. Rulon, Mr. Rhines, F. Ray Minkler and F. I. Smith sang "Rock of Ages." Miss Jennie Forward was accompanist. Pallbearers were Lee Hamlett, Eldon Burgin, Gordon Burgin, Evertt Hamlett, Clarence Kuhlman and Elmer Kuhlman. the gifts of beautiful flowers were evidence of the esteem in which the family is held. Sympathy real and deep is extended to this bereaved family.
