She grew to young womanhood in the vicinity of Elkport.

On December 4, 1883 she was united in marriage to John Combs at Glen Haven, Wisc. To this union 11 children were born, nine of whom are left to mourn her passing. One son, Willie, died in infancy and another son, Henry, died at the age of 17. Her husband preceded her in death on November 15, 1933. Since that time she has made her home among her children. The children who are left are Edward Combs, Mrs. Maggie Totman,Mrs. Clara Nimmo, Frank Combs, Mrs. Rose Knapp, Mrs. Anna Hansel, Mrs. Mary Sabin, Mrs. OSie Johnson, Mrs. Golda Resar, all of whom live in the immediate cicinity, with the exception of Rose, who lives at Fullerton, Neb. and Golda, who lives in Dubuque. She also leaves 45 grandchildren and seven sisters and two brothers.

She enjoyed good health for a woman of her age until she had the misfortune of falling and breaking her hip while visting at the Floyd Ryan home near Manchester on Aug. 23. Since that time she suffered a great deal until her passing.

During her last days her children were constantly at her bedside helping care for her. As a young girl she was batized into the Lutheran church but had not the opportunity of attending the services of her chosen faith during the late years of her life.
