WELL KNOWN WOMAN OF EDGEWOOD, MRS. E. B. HANSON CALLED

Edgewood and the surrounding community are sorrowing this week over the death of one of their very best loved residents, Mrs. E. B. Hanson. Death came not long after midnight Sunday morning and brought to a close a beautiful life marked by devotion to her duties as a wife, a mother, a sister and a friend.

Lottie Smith was born on February 15, 1883 at Strawberry Point, Iowa, the daughter of Solomon Smith and his wife Agnes Valentine Smith. Her school days were spent in the Strawberry Point school from which she was graduated. She studied music at Upper Iowa University and was an accomplished pianist who gave freely of her talent.

On Thanksgiving Day, 1908 at Dubuque, Iowa, she became the wife of Dr. E. B. Hanson and their new home was established in Edgewood where it has continued. To their union was born one daughter, Helen of Cedar Rapids, a teacher at McKinley High School.

Surviving to mourn her death besides the husband and daughter is one loving sister, Mrs. Belle Davis.

Evert attention that modern medicine affords as well as the most devoted care were given in an effort to save the life of one so dear to all whose lives she had touched.

Mrs. Hanson was a member of Avalon Chapter No. 434, Order of Eastern Star and was for many years pianist for the organization.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Platt Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Warren L. Feller, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point Cemetery.

Words could never express what Mrs. Hanson's kindnesses have meant to the patients who visted the doctor. A eulogy could never do her life justice. One of God's finest woman has been called to her final reward.
