I am not related and have no further information. This is from an old scrapbook that belonged to Mrs. Clara (Jones) McCartney.
U. E. Burgin Obituary
Uri E. Burgin was born June 24, 1849, in Jackson county, Michigan. He was the fifth child in a family of ten children, two of whom survive him, Mrs. Ida Powers of Edgewood and Leslie W. Burgin of Strawberry Point. His parents, Joseph and Sarah Burgin, moved to Eads Grove in 1854, where they lived one year and then to Clayton County where he has since resided.
He was united in marriage to Adaline Rhines January 6, 1878. To this union were born ten children, one of whom died in infancy. The remaining nine were present at the funeral-Harley of Lamont, Herbert, Lester, and Jessie, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Ada Andrews, Mrs. Alta Holroyd, Mrs. Grace Lee and Miss Minnie, all od Edgewood. Seventeen grandchildren also are left to mourn his death.
His death occured at about eight o'clcok Friday morning, February 2nd, at the old home where the greater part of his life had been spent. The funeral was held there the following Sunday, Rev. Turner of the M. E. church of Edgewood officiating, and the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Edgewood cemetery.
