I am not related and have no further information, just sharing articles found in an old scrapbook that belonged to Mrs. Clara (Jones) McCartney.
1869-1946
EVA RHINESEva J. Burgin was born near Edgewood, Iowa on January 3, 1869 and passed away at the Possehl nursing home on August 5, 1946, at the age of 77 years, eight months, and two days. She grew to womanhood in the Edgewood community and on January 9, 1888 was married to John Rhines.
She was a member of the Methodist church for more then sixty years, a member of the Woman's Relief Corps and Royal Neighbors of America, and very active in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, of whhich she was county president for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rhines, and an infant son Kenneth. She leaves to mourn her passing, five children: Alva J. Rhines, Westfield, Mass.; Mabel J. Tyrrell and Donald E. Rhines, Edgewood; Doris E. Powell, Long Beach, Calif.; and Bernice K. Laughlin, Maricopa, Calif.
Also surviving her is one brother, W. J. Burgin, Long Beach, Calif., eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Rhines funeral chapel and the Methodist church on August 7, 1946, the pastor, Rev. R. C. Scott, in charge.
Mr. Glen Fobes sang, "Sunrise Tomorrow" and was accompanied by Miss Jennie Forward.
The pall bearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-laws of the deceased; John E. Tyrrell, Donald E. Rhines, Jr., Russell Smock, Robert Johnstone, Clay Ash and Jack Miller.
Burial was made in the Edgewood cemetery.
