Pfc. Dale Gleason Killed on Okinawa

Pfc. Dale Gleason, 29, was killed in action on Okinawa, May 2, according to word received Sunday by his wife, Mrs. Dale Gleason of Oelwein, and his father, Jess Gleason.

Dale was born April 20, 1916 and spent his entire life in and near Edgewood. He graduated from the Edgewood high scholl and shortly after his marriage seven years ago he moved to his father's farm on Elk Creek.

Dale entered the army in February, 1944 and was assigned to the infantry. He was sent overseas in August of last year.

He leaves to mourn his passing his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Gleason; two brothers, Earl Gleason of Edgewood and S/Sgt. Preston Gleason in the army in the Philippines, and his wife and five year old daughter, Sharon Lee of Oelwein.
