Died June 26, 1931

Peter J. Fisher

Funeral services for Peter J. Fisher were held at the Methodist church on sunday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. F. W. Cass. Burial was in the Delhi cemetery.
Peter J. Fisher, oldest son of Edward and Rowena Fisher, was born at Wood Center, Iowa, on December 25, 1873, and passed away at his home in Delhi on June 26, 1931, at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 1 day. His early life was spent at Edgewood, where he attended school and grew to manhood.

On November 24, 1904, he was married to Miss Cynthia Gleason of Elk Valley. To Mr. and Mrs. Fisher were born five children: Zelda (Mrs. L. H. Thibadeau), of Masonville; Rose P., Lee F., Gladys I., and Verda E., all at home. In 1922, the family moved to Delhi, which has since been their home. For the past four years, Mr. Fisher has been unable to work because of failing health and it is thought that because of this weakness, he was unable to withstand the intense heat of last week.

Besides the widow and five children, he is survived by five brothers, Isaac, George and Frank of Edgewood, and Joseph and Edward of Greeley and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Sherman and Mrs. Mattie Wilcox both of Greeley. His parents and one sister, Hattie, preceded him in death.

"There is no death, although we grieve
When beautiful, familiar forms
That we have learned to love are torn
From our embracing arms.
Although with bowed and breaking heart,
With sable garb and silent tread,
We bear their senseless dust to rest,
And say that they are dead.---
They are not dead, they have but passed
Beyond the mists that blind us here,
Into the new and larger life
Of that serener sphere."
