James C. Cunningham

James C. Cunningham was born January 4, 1930 in Gatewood, Missouri, son of James and Vida Mae (Miller) Cunningham. He died Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

Jim received his education locally and worked with the Willard Tuecke Logging Co; Pioneer Aluminum in California; Original Enders Co., and as tow boat Captain for Mid America Transportation. He was a self-taught musician, playing in many different bands; he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards, was a member of the Prairie LaPorte Masonic Lodge #147 and Eagle Aerie #4114, both of Guttenberg.

Survivors include 3 daughters: Sharon Szabo of Postville, Patricia (Bob) Richards of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Robin Cunningham of Guttenberg; 2 sons: Michael (Diane) Cunningham of Marion and James (Sharon) Cunningham of Guttenberg; 6 grandchildren: James Craner, Jessica Hauber, Justin Szabo, Eric Cunningham, J.T. Cunningham and Blake Cunningham; 2 great-grandchildren: Devin and Briana Hauber; one sister: Essie Holland of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Timothy Craner; one sister, Georgia Hastings, and 2 brothers, James and Hershel.

Services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Guttenberg, Iowa, with the Rev. Penny Hansel officiating. Burial was at Guttenberg City Cemetery in Guttenberg, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Tim Andregg, Max Kirkpatrick, Ed Morehouse, Mack Hackett, Milo Lucas, and Bill Wolfe. Honorary pallbearer was Clark Moser.
