Jeanne Collins

Jeanne Louise Collins, daughter of Alvin and Selma (Kregel) Dettmann, was born January 26, 1927 at her parents's home, rural Monona, Iowa. She died Friday, March 1, 1996 at the Prairie Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Jeanne was united in marriage to Eugene F. Collins on January 28, 1949 at Luana, Iowa. She had been employed at 3M for 22 years. Most recently she was the custodian at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her mother; her husband, Eugene, who died April 4, 1991; a sister, Joyce; and a sister-in-law, Shirley.

Survivors include her father, Alvin Dettmann of Elkader; 2 sons: Rick (Shirley) Collins of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. and Craig (Linda) Collins of Superior, Wis.; 3 grandchildren: Jamie, Jennifer and Ryan; one brother: Julius (Joyce) Dettmann of Monona; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 4, 1996 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana. Pastor Jeff Ruetten officiated. Organist was Helmuth Landt. Pallbearers were Richard Huinker, Allan Miller, Dennis Dettmann, Dale Linderbaum, Bernell Kleifoth and Keith Mohs. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.
