Mathilda Christianson

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, for Mrs. Mathilda Christianson. The Rev. Dennis Stutrud of Elgin officiated. Burial was in the Marion cemetery.

Mathilda Christianson, daughter of Erick and Mary Halverson, was born July 7, 1893 in Marion Township. Following a lingering illness she passed away June 21, 1960 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Merle Gregerson of Marion, at the age of 66 years.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Lutheran Church. On February 14, 1914 she was united in marriage to Henry Christianson. To this union were born 14 children, two of whom died in infancy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Christianson; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond Lantz; one grandchild, Curt Charles Christianson; her parents and four brothers.

She is survived by 11 children, 29 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many friends and relatives. The children are: Elmer of Pontiac, Illinois; Hazel (Mrs. Louis Kjosa) of Elgin, Ia; Marjorie (Mrs. Merlin Martie) of Postville; Agnes (Mrs. Merle) Gregerson, DeLoris (Mrs. Fred Waalk), and Betty (Mrs. Robert Kurdelmeyer) all of Marion, Ia; Millard and Clifford, both of St. Olaf; Henry, Jr., of Monona; Velma (Mrs. Bernell Larson) of Clinton, Ia. and Charles of Postville.

She was an active member of the Ladies Aid and Dorcas Society of the Marion Lutheran Church.
