He came to Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa, in 1865 and was married to Miss Catherine Gulick on Sept 5, 1888, and to this union were born seven sons - Wallace, Alfred, Oscar, John, Howard, Robert and Frank, all of whom with the wife and mother, mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Thomas, who lives near Postville; three brothers and two sisters, who reside in Canada, and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Gordon lived on his Clayton county farm continuously until four years ago when he came to Postville to reside. He was an honest and industrious man and was for many years instrumental in developing the livestock interests of this locality. He was a good citizen, neighbor and friend, and enjoyed a wide acquaintance throughout this section, and his passing wil bring a pang of sorrow to all who knew him.

The funeral was held from the family home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon of this week, conducted by the Rev. J.A. Saathoff of the Community church. Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
