Rites Held For Mrs. James HanselFuneral services were held Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana for Mrs. James Hansel, who passed away Friday, February 14, at Postville Hospital. The Rev. L. W. Reuther was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery, Luana.
Delores Lenth Hansel was born the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lenth on April 28, 1930 on the present Walter and Norbert Dettman farm south of Luana. She passed away at Postville Hospital on Friday, February 14, at 11:19 a.m. having attained the age of 27 years, nine months and 17 days.
She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana and was confirmed there on July 2, 1914. In the spring of 1935, she moved with her parents from the farm of her birth to their present farm about two miles west of Luana. From there she attended Luana grade and high school from which she graduated in 1948. Thereafter she worked one year at the Louis Schutte home and one year for Dr. R. T. Martin.
On April 28, 1955, she was married to James Hansel. After nearly three years of married life, she became unwell in July, 1956, under went surgery in Iowa City in February, 1957. She was cared for by her parents and on Tuesday of last week was taken to Postville hospital.
Surviving are her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lenth of Postville; two sisters, Mrs. James Jarmes of Waterloo and Deiane at home; plus relatives and friends.
