DUAINE JOHN PALAS
Funeral service for Duaine Palas was held Tuesday, July 10, 10:30 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, Luana. The Rev. Ted Ager officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Duaine John Palas, son of Arthur F. and Esther (Lenth) Palas, born June 5, 1924, in Clayton County, near Luana. He died Friday afternoon, July 6, 1990, in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
He was baptized into the Lutheran faith as an infant and confirmed July 16, 1939, in St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, by the Rev. Paul Adix. He was graduated from the Luana High School.
On December 20, 1951, he married Doris Johnson in the East Clermont Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born. They have lived on their present farm all of their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving is his wife, Doris; three sons, Duaine Arthur, Luana, Dwight of Arvada, Co. and Eric, Luana; a daughter, Deanne Palas, Forest City; one brother: Gerald Palas and his wife, Verda, Farmersburg, and a sister, D'Elda and her husband, Alvin Erickson, Postville, and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Luana.
Casket bearers were: Duaine Davis, Marlyn Nuehring, Raymond Doerring, Harlan Walch, Roger Landt, LaVern Schrader.
