Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Monona for Emma Ziegler, who passed away on February 22.
Emma Louisa, daughter of George, Sr. and Maria Bierbaum Ziegler, was born in Clayton county on October 3, 1881, and died at Oakdale on February 22, 1961, at the age of 79 years, four months and 19 days. She had been in poor health for one year, dating from a fall in her home in February, 1960.
She was educated in the Clayton county schools, baptized in 1882 and confirmed at Garnavillo, and became a member of the Monona Methodist Church in 1924. She spent practically her entire life in the nursing profession, in addition to operating an apartment house in Monona. She was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps and the Rebecca Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, George, Henry, Charles, Albert and Chris; three sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Henry Wilke) of Postville, Clara (Mrs. Roy Tapper) of Monona, and Margaret. Surviving to mourn are two sisters, Mrs. Flora McNally of Postville and Mrs. Kate Eibel of Chicago; many nephews and nieces and other more distant relatives, and a great number of people she nursed to health, as well as many other friends.
