VERN WILLIAM ZIEMAN
Funeral services were held for Vern William Zieman, 89, at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, 1981 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with the Rev. Harold Ward officiating. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana, with the Rev. Brian Burchfield officiating.
Vern Zieman, son of Albert and Anna (Brandt) Zieman, was born Jan. 1, 1892 on a farm in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County. He was baptized in early infancy and confirmed in March 1906. He received his education in the area schools.
Jan. 14, 1914, he was married to Emma Krambeer. They moved to a farm near Luana where they lived for 30 years. During this time they made a home for Chet Bente. In 1945 they moved to Monona and became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Vern died Monday, Jan. 19 at the Elkader Care Center.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, a son, Kermit, a brother, Elmer, two sisters, Clinda Weihe and Estella Huebner.
Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Ida Ann) Baade, Monona; Mrs. Ray (Phyllis) Chiappe, Winnetka, Ill.; a son, Curtis of Luana; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Vern William Zieman, 89, died Monday, Jan. 19 at the Elkader care center.
Born Jan. 1, 1892 in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, he was the son of Albert and Anna Brandt Zieman. He and Emma Krambeer were married Jan. 14, 1914. They lived on a farm near Luana for 30 years and moved to Monona in 1945. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran church.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Ida Ann) Baade of Monona and Mrs. Ray (Phyllis) Chiappe of Winnetka, IL; a son Curtis of Luana; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife in 1972, a son Kermit in 1924, a brother Elmer, and two sisters, Clinda Weihe and Estella Huebner.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s with burial in St. John Lutheran cemetery in Luana. The Rev. Harold Ward officiated at the services with Rev. Brian Burchfield officiating at the burial. Pallbearers were John Forssman, Frank Sudol, Glen Meisner, Robert Chiappe, Paul Grafenberg and Chet Bente. Schultz funeral home in Monona was in charge of arrangements.
