Edward Michael Riley, 93, of McGregor, Iowa died Wednesday, a June 16, 1993 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.

Ed was born February 3, 1900 at a McGregor, Iowa to parents Michael and Caroline Becker Riley. He graduated from high school. He served in the army during World r War I. After his discharge he attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. He farmed for many years in the McGregor area. He worked for the State of Iowa, as a liquor store manager, and at the Gilchrist Seed Co. in McGregor.

He married Colette McCoy on April 9, 1942 in McGregor. She died March 25, 1979.

Ed was a charter member of Pocket City Post 267 American Legion and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, both of McGregor.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Eugene) Laschenski of Houston, MN and Mary Jo (Bill) Beckman of Huxley, IA; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Katherine Shoulte, Julia Carroll and Ellen Riley, all of McGregor.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, John Riley; and one foster son, Fred Funk.

Services were held Monday, June 21, 1993, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, McGregor, IA with Fr. Robert Levenhagen officiating. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Military honors were accorded by Pocket City Post 267 American Legion.

Honorary casketbearers were Jean Leschenski, Annie Beckman, Katie Leschenski and Lizzy Beckman. Active casketbearers were Brian Leschenski, Jon Leschenski, Mike Carroll, David Laschenski, Eddie Laschenski and Harry Miller Jr.

Arrangements were made by Thornburg Funeral Home, McGregor, Iowa.
