Casper Frank Schaefers, 90, of rural McGregor died Saturday, Apr. 15, 1989, at the Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, WI.

He was born Oct. 21, 1898, in Clayton County, Iowa, to Xavier and Mary Auer Schaefers. He married Mary Luscher Nov. 27, 1924, in Garnavillo. She died Dec. 22, 1975. They farmed in the McGregor area since 1951.

Survivors include two sons, Leo of McGregor and Ray of Monona; five daughters, Anna Mae Schaefers and Lucille Schaefers, both of rural McGregor, Helen Schaefers of Dubuque, Mrs. Irene Petsche of St. Olaf and Bernice Schaefers of Monona; five grandchildren; two brothers, George of Volga and Harold of Nebraska; and one sister, Margaret Meredith, of Sacramento, CA.

Casper was preceded in death by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Apr. 18, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor. Rev. Hubert Boschert officiated; burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Albert Petsche, Carl Petsche, Francis Schaefers, Lavern Schaefers, Joseph Wille and Raymond Wille.

Thornburg Funeral Home, Mcregor, was in charge of arrangements.
