Funeral services for Ida Sawvell were held Friday, May 11, 1984, 11:00 a.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, with Rev. Carroll Brown officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Ambrose, Lorin Ross, Donald Sawvell, Steven Sawvell, Randall Gilson, and John Ryan. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.
Ida Irene Sawvell, the daughter of George and Effie (Cassidy) Kuehne was born May 23, 1904, Rossville, Iowa. She was baptized in the Methodist Church and received her education in the Rossville school. On Nov. 20, 1924 she was united in marriage to Alonzo George Sawvell. To this union four children were born. They lived in Monona for many years. She died Tuesday, May 8, 1984 at North Gate Manor, Waukon, Iowa, where she had been a resident for some years.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Lon, who died March 30, 1977, a brother Cleo, a sister Pearl Stahl and a grandchild.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Francis (Melva) Nagel, Mrs. Eugen (Wilma) Gilson, both of Monona, two sons, Junior George of Dubuque and Earl D. of Monona, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, two sisters, Winnie Huffman of Rossville, Arietta Opfer of California.Copied from the Clipping collection of June Larson
