Funeral services for Hedwig Horns were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, 1984 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Pastor Harold 0. Ward officiating. Pallbearers were Ray Horns, Harold Thorne, Sidney, Horns, Myron Horns, Neal Horns, and Martin Horns. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Hedwig Horns, the daughter of Franz and Henrietta (Geyer) Denninghoff, was born April 9, 1903 at Dortmund, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in Germany. She received her education in the school in Germany. As a young girl she came to the United States. On November 23, 1927 she was united in marriage to Herbert Horns at Farmersburg. To this union two sons were born. She was a loving wife and mother and helped her husband when they farmed. In 1955 they moved to their home in Monona. She died Tuesday, June 26, 1984 at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, after an extended illness, reaching the age of 81 years, 2 months, 17 days.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her son William, who died May 16, 1973, daughter-in-law Marianne, who died April 11, 1974, grandson Richard, who died Dec. 26, 1972, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Surviving her are her husband Herbert, her son Irving, daughter-in-law Barbara, 15 grandchildren, Ray and Kathy Horns, Linda Kasper, Kathleen Jacobsen, Sidney, Larry, Myron, Neal, Martin, Jeffery, and Dwight Horns, Audrey Emerson, Susanna Johanningmeier, Sandra Evanson, and Dawn Horns, 13 greatgrandchilden,three sisters, Emilie Buerger and Wilhelmina Robertson both of Waukon,Erna Reinholt of Beloit, Wisc.
