Funeral services for Wendell Baskerville were held Wednesday October 2, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at the Garden City United Methodist (white) Church, with Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiating. Pallbearers were Wendell Wendt, Dennis Baskerville, Robert Baskerville, Joseph Baskerville, Scott Baskerville, William Baskerville, and David Baskerville. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Wendell Henry Baskerville was born October 6, 1888 at Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Lorenzo and Alice (McClaren) Baskerville. The family moved to Earlville, Iowa, where Wendell graduated from High School. He taught school one year and then enrolled at Upper Iowa University where he graduated in 1913. He then taught school for several years. He was united in marriage to Mae Hupfer in December of 1919 and to this union a daughter and three sons were born. At the time of their marriage they started farming. Wendell was a life long member of the Garden City United Methodist Church and belonged to many organizations, he was a 65 year Mason and member of Scottish Rites in Cedar Rapids, Secretary of Farmers Co-op for 25 years, member of the school board 18 years, 60 year member of the Farm Bureau, a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame of Upper Iowa University, served in WWI a member of the World War I Barracks, American. Legion, Cemetery Association and the Senior Citizens. He and Mae celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in December of 1984. He died Sunday, September 29, 1985 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Edna Mae Wendt; 2 sisters, Roberta Smith and Eva Hunt; 2 half brothers, William and Victor.

Surviving are his wife Mae; three sons, William, his wife, Edith of Monona, Robert of Cedar Rapids, Richard, his wife Doris of Des Moines; 7 grandsons who were pallbearers and, 4 granddaughters, Wanda Wendt, Terri, Tammy, Carol Baskerville and 1 great granddaughter, Emily; a sister Maude Adams of Wacoma, and a half sister, Ella Gibbs of Earlville and many nieces and nephews.

Wendell Baskerville, 96, died Sunday at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

Surviving are his wife, Mae; three sons, William of Monona, Robert of Cedar Rapids and Richard of Des Moines; a sister, Maude Adams of Waucoma; a half-sister, Ella Gibbs of Earlville; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Garden City United Methodist (White) Church, Monona. Burial: Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Schultz', where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m.
