Norma L. Thiers, 68, of Madison, Wis., died Aug. 5 at University Hospitals in Madison.
She was born Feb. 24, 1914 in McGregor, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Lillian Knapp. She was a member of Bashford United Methodist Church. She married Erwin C. Thiers on Aug. 7, 1932.
Mrs. Thiers is survived by her husband, two daughters, Janet Gandolph of Madison, and Marcy Merkel of Milwaukee, Wis.; a grandchild, Mark Amato, serving in the U.S. Army in Ft. Knox, Kentucky; two sisters, Ruth Paulson of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Margaret Thiers of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Fred Knapp of Evansdale, Iowa, and Vernon Knapp of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Aug. 9 at Bashford United Methodist Church in Madison, with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Care, Inc.
