Services for Stanton Sawvell were held Friday, October 4, 1985 at 11:00 a.m. St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, with Pastor Harold 0. Ward officiating. Pall-bearers were Robert Drahn, Jason Voelike, Gene Connor, Lorin Dettmann, Virgil Thompson and Duane Lamker. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Stanton Charles Sawvell was born October 3, 1908 at Wall, South Dakota, the son of Earl and Mary (Brechler) Sawvell. He was baptized and later confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona. He received his education in the Mar-Mac Schools. On February 4, 1932 Stanton was united in marriage to Elsie Nevermann at Garnavillo, Iowa by Pastor M.J. Harder of St. Paul's Church. After their marriage they farmed for five years northwest of Marquette, Iowa. In 1937 they moved to a farm two miles southeast of Monona where they stayed until their retirement to Monona in 1972. He died Monday, September 30, 1985 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, after a sudden illness.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Ada, who died at 7 months, and a brother Gerald.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie; a nephew Robert Sawvell of Canyon, Texas; a niece, Mrs. Jean DeNeut of Rexburg, Idaho; sister-in-law Frances Beckett and a brother-in-law Freddie Nevermann.
