Johanningmeier, Don Louis William Fred 1926 - 1985

Don Louis William Fred Johanningmeier was born September 15, 1926, the son of Arlo and Lucy (Mueller) Johanningmeier in Giard Township, Clayton County.

He was baptized October 24, 1916, by Pastor Albert Daugs and confirmed in 1941 by Pastor Herman Siefkes, his Bible verse was Proverbs 23:26.

He graduated from the Monona High School in 1944. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau.

On November 16, 1949, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Standorf at St. Paul's. To this union a son and daughter were born.

Because he enjoyed watching things grow, he became a farmer. He took pleasure in hunting, fishing, his family and friends. Don loved life, people and goodness. He was not a complainer and was always looking to the future. He was a fighter to the end.

He died Saturday, January 5, at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Shirley, who died May 9, 1984, and his mother, who died November 2, 1972.

Surviving are his son, Larry, daughter-in-law Bobbi of McGregor; his daughter, Lynn and son-in-law, Richard Silva of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; two, grandchildren, Eric and Melissa; his father, Arlo of Monona; his brother, Lee Allen of McGregor; and, his sister, Sharon (Mrs. Roland Troester) of Gamavillo.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 9, 1985, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, with Pastor Harold 0. Ward officiating. Pall-bearers were Harlan Standorf, Ronald Standorf, Allan Standorf, Elmer Nieland, Milton Nelson, and Russell Bernhard. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.
