Funeral service for Mrs.Dale (Dorothy) Thompson of rural Farmersburg was conducted on Thursday afternoon. at 1:30 in Giard United Methodist Church by the Revs. T. Janet Surdam and Luella Koether, pastors.

Pallbearers were Virgil, Gaylord, Roger, Leroy and Richard Thompson and Harlan Haas. Burial was in Giard Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson, 61, was killed Saturday night, Jan. 15 when struck by a car as she was crossing Hwy. 18-52 west of McGregor.

A lifelong area resident, the former Dorothy Malinda Fritz was born Oct. 12,1915, to John and Caroline Reimer Fritz of Froelich. She was educated in Froelich Country School, Monona High School and Commerical College Des Moines.

She and Dale Thompson of Monona were united in marriage Sept. 15, 1936. They farmed in several locations in Giard Township before settling on the W. J. Allert farm in Froelich in 1961.

An active member of the United Methodist Church since May 27, 1928, Mrs. Thompson was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years and was chairperson of the Parsonage Committee. As a child she belonged to the King's Herald Epworth League and Standard Bearers.

Surviving are her husband, one son, Clyde; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clyde (Lina) Redmon, Champaign, Ill.; one brother, Lester Fritz, Monona; two half brothers, Harold Fritz, Dubuque, and Harvey Fritz, Epworth; and her step-mother, Frieda Fritz, Dubuque.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, brother Oscar and Sister Marie.
