Kevin Christopher Smith, 16, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, from injuries duffered in an auto accident near Colesburg. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Trinity United Methodist Church, Edgewood, by the Rev. Kent Newlon. Burial: Edgewood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home, Edgewood.

Kevin was born Feb. 24, 1984, in Dubuque, to Chris and Jill Easterday Smith. He was raised and educated in the Edgewood area where he was a junior at Edgewood-Colesburg High School. Kevin was active in football, basketball and golf at school. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Kevin was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his father, Chris Smith of Cedar Falls and special friend Teresa Green of Jefferson; his mother and stepfather, Jill and Tony Hemann of Edgewood; two step-brothers, Bruce and Blake Hemann, both of Edgewood; paternal grandparents, Cledith and June Smith of Alburnett; maternal grandmothers, Judy Easterday of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., and Sharon Gifford of Cedar Rapids; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Easterday. Instead of flowers, memorials are preferred.
