Nathan Jon Chopard, 18, died Sunday, Oct. 1, from injuries suffered in an auto accident near Colesburg. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Mark's Catholic church, Edgewood , by the Rev. John Friederick. Burial: Edgewood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard Funeral Home, Edgewood.
Nathan was born Dec. 18, 1981, in Manchester, to Paul and Pat Meyer Chopard. He was a senior at Edgewood Colesburg High School, where he was a member of the school band. He played the guitar and enjoyed getting together with friends to play music. He also was a Boy Scout, a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church and the CCD religious education program. He liked working on cars and motorcycles, had been a carrier for the Telegraph Herald and presently was working part time for the Fareway store in Manchester.
Survivors include his parents, Paul and Pat Chopard; three brothers, Jason of Waterloo and fiancee Amy Silver of Hazleton, Chad of Marion and Sean at home; two sisters, Heather and fiance Josh Bottelman of Hiawatha and Megan at home; maternal grandparents, Delbert and Mildred Meyer of Elkader; and a special friend, Lisa Schroeder of Berlin, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Edna Chopard.
