Leroy C. Howard, 53, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, in Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis., after a heart attack. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Garden City United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Dennis Gilbert. Burial: Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Schultz funeral Home, Monona, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; a daughter, Sarah Lynn of Monona; five brothers, Laverne of Cedar Rapids, Dale of Great Falls, Mont., James of Waukon, Charles of Clermont and Gerald of Monona; and two sisters, Deborah Yohe of Caledonia, Monn., and Eunice Howard of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Leroy was born Nov. 14, 1947, in West Union. He married Betty Wiethorn on Feb. 14, 1971, at Monona Methodist Church. He graduated from Monona High School in 1965. Leroy served in the U.S. Air Force.
