Homer Gustavus Foster, 86, of rural McGregor, a retired farmer, died Tuesday morning, June 20, in Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services for the life-long area resident were conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, by the Rev. Oliver Larkin, pastor of the McGregor United Methodist and Congregational churches. Burial was made in Council Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne Ferguson, Kenneth Cahoon, Henry Erbe, Leo Schaeffers, Gary O'Heron and Duane Foster.
Mr. Foster was born Aug. 8, 1891, on Pleasant Ridge near McGregor, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest J. Foster. His entire life was spent on the family farm where he engaged in a farming partnership, first with his father and later with his brother, Warren, who died in 1961.
Mr. Foster and the former Vida M. Kersten were united in marriage June 6, 1916. Surviving are his wife; one son, Dexter of Minneapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Marjorie) O'Heron of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and three grandchildren.
