Obituary
Cecil Eloise Kersten, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amel Kersten was born on Pleasant Ridge Mar. 22, 1901, died at her home Oct 27, 1921, at the age of 20 years, 7 mos. and 5 days.We have known Cecil since her early childhood days. A bright winsome little girl always ready to do her duty at home and in public. Often we have joyfully listened to her little songs and recitations as she appeared alone before her friends in public. As she grew to young womanhood she cheerfully and gladly kept on with these duties, being a leader among the young people in these worthy deeds. In the last few years she being the only girl left in her home. She was a great comfort and help to her parents doing the duties with a song on her lips even when she was having her own trials. In the last few months she had been a kind and loving daughter to her invalid mother. Doing little extras, planning little surprises for her joy and happiness. This is the way as a close friend among her older friends we knew Cecil.
In her dying hours she said to her pastor, "God is my friend, I am not afraid to die,".
The funeral services were held from the home to the M.E. Church. Her pastor, the Rev. H.A. Crumb officiating. Burial in the Council Hill cemetery. The singing was beautiful, solos by Mrs. Benjamin, of McGregor, Mr. Krohn, of Marquette, John Geraghty, of Monona; Mrs. O.F. Campbell, of Marquette presided at the organ. The pallbearers were her intimate girl friends, Misses Ethel Burckart, Marie Carlson, Nina Cahoon, Ruth Ellenbolt, Rose Adney and Lucille Ricketts. The Floral offerings were many.
Those left to mourn her loss are her parents, two sisters and a brother, two sisters Irmagarde and Irva having preceded her in death. Many other relatives and friends mourn with these near and dear ones.
With steady mind the course of duty run;
God never does, nor suffers to be done
Aught but thy self wouldst do, coulds thou forsee
