Amelia Louise Jarms, the daughter of Frank Jarms and Magdalena nee Barghahn, was born on Aug. 9, 1888 in Farmersburg Twp., Clayton Co., Iowa. In Sept., 1888, she was baptized by Pastor John Graening and on March 23, 1902, she was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. She attended the Lamker rural school south of Monona in her childhood.

On Sept. 28, 1910, she was united in marriage with Frank Voelzke at Monona. Her husband worked as a carpenter and then later farmed east of Monona. When her husband died in 1953, she continued to live with her son Lyle, first on the farm and later in Prairie du Chien, Wis.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona all her life. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and also the Sewing Circle.

Mrs. Voelzke underwent surgery in 1963, after which she never completely recovered her health. She stayed with her children for a period of time & lately lived at a nursing home in Strawberry Point. She passed away at the hospital in Manchester on Sat. morning, Sept, 16, at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 7 days.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. George (Irene) Wilker of Monona; her son Lyle of Prairie du Chien; one brother, Ben Jarms of Monona; 4 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two sons, Milton & Carlton, two brothers, Henry & Frank Jarms, and one sister, Mrs. Fred (Louise) Schultz.

Funeral services were held Tues., Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Pastors R.E. Langholz and Fred Darnauer officiating.

Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona.
